About Queer and Unbroken

A Home for LGBTQIA+ Community Storytelling, Resilience, and Hope

What Queer and Unbroken Stands For

Queer and Unbroken is a place where LGBTQIA+ stories, voices, and lived experiences come together. It is a digital home for resilience, community care, visibility, and the belief that queer people deserve to see themselves reflected with dignity and truth.

This project centers the heart of LGBTQIA+ community storytelling. Here you will find real stories about queerness, identity, chosen family, healing, spirituality, and the everyday courage it takes to live openly in a world that does not always make space for us. This is a place to feel grounded, encouraged, and reminded that you are not moving through life alone.

The goal is simple. Shine a light on queer lives. Honor the strength we carry. Build a community where our stories matter.

Why This Project Exists

Queer and Unbroken was created because so many of us grew up without queer role models, without safe places to land, and without the language to describe who we were becoming. Growing up in the rural South shaped me in many ways. I knew early what it felt like to move through the world without community, without guidance, and without the comfort of seeing myself reflected anywhere.

I did not build this platform to retell my hardships. I built it because I know what it feels like to grow up queer and unseen. I know how powerful it is to find a story that feels familiar, or a voice that sounds like your own. This site was created to offer what I once needed. A home for queer resilience. A place where stories lift us up instead of shutting us down. A reminder that survival is not where our story ends.

At its heart, Queer and Unbroken is here to say: your voice matters, your identity matters, and your story deserves a place to land.

Our Community Voices Project

One of the core threads of Queer and Unbroken is our Community Voices section. This series features interviews with LGBTQIA+ people, community members, advocates, healers, and leaders who make a real impact in the world.

These conversations highlight:

  • queer lived experience
  • local community stories
  • resilience and survival
  • chosen family
  • cultural and spiritual insights
  • resources and support for LGBTQIA+ people
  • the work happening on the ground in our communities

The goal is to amplify a wide range of perspectives and offer a fuller picture of queer life. No single voice can tell our whole story. Community Voices exists to bring many stories together in one place and remind us that our experiences are both unique and deeply connected.

About Jamie

Hello, I’m Jamie Collier, the creator of Queer and Unbroken. I grew up queer in a small Southern town where support was limited, visibility was nearly nonexistent, and silence often felt safer than honesty. Those early years shaped me, but they did not define me. They gave me resilience, a deep sense of purpose, and a calling to help create the space I once needed.

My path has taken me through survival, chosen family, spirituality, activism, and healing. Over the years I have learned that queer stories carry power. They connect us, they ground us, and they remind us that we belong.

I built Queer and Unbroken to uplift the stories that rarely make it into mainstream queer media. The simple, everyday stories that shape us. The ones that show our humanity, our strength, and our connection to one another.

This project is my way of giving back to a community that saved my life more than once. It is also a love letter to anyone who has ever felt unseen or unheard.

A Welcome to Anyone Who Needs This Space

If you are reading this and looking for a sense of belonging, I am glad you are here. If you grew up without role models or queer community, you are seen. If you are learning who you are or stepping into your power, you are in the right place.

Queer and Unbroken is built on the belief that visibility creates healing, and that every act of courage, creativity, or connection makes an impact. Sometimes the impact is on future generations. Sometimes it is on one person who needed to hear a story that sounds like theirs.

Your story matters. Your voice matters. You matter.
I hope this space brings you comfort, community, and the inspiration to shine your own light forward.
